This country can not afford any more of his cover-ups for the Bush administration, nor can it afford the hyper-partisan attacks that will come from a Lieberman committee tasked with providing oversight to an Obama administration.Let's cut the nonsense. Reid offered Lieberman a chance to stay in the Democratic caucus, keep his seniority, and become the chairman of some other committee. Lieberman thinks that's "unacceptable" and reportedly "begged" to stay on as chairman of Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
Bayh thinks this is about "revenge or retribution." It's not. For that matter, it's only partly about holding Lieberman accountable for his betrayals. This is actually about a specific power Lieberman is intent on keeping for a specific reason.
This seems to be routinely overlooked, but take a moment to consider what the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs actually does: it's the committee principally responsible for oversight of the executive branch. It's an accountability committee, charged with investigating the conduct of the White House and the president's administration.
As chairman of this committee for the last two years, Lieberman decided not to pursue any accusations of wrongdoing against the Bush administration. Lieberman's House counterpart -- Rep. Henry Waxman's Oversight Committee -- was a vigilant watchdog, holding hearings, issuing subpoenas, and launching multiple investigations. Lieberman preferred to let his committee do no real work at all. It was arguably the most pathetic display of this Congress.
Joe Lieberman's partisan inaction there has already endangered the United States of America. Domestically he has failed to protect The Constitution by refusing to investigate Bush crimes. And, by refusing to do his job, Lieberman has left Bush to continue his disastrous foreign policy and, at times, even cheerleaded that failed foreign policy that has endangered the USA even more.`
Just get out of politics altogether NOW, Joe, because if you thought we were pains in the asses before... Wait until we really start to shove. Right.Down.Your.Partisan.Throat.

You have aided and abetted George W. Bush in his crimes, Joe, by refusing to investigate. Because of that you have endangered the security of the USA and the rest of the world. You and your Neoconservative cabal are Domestic Terrorists. The rest of the world classifies you as Foreign Terrorists for your crimes against humanity.
Don't just leave Homeland Security. Don't just leave the Democratic party. Leave politics completely.

The anger against Joe Lieberman goes back to 2006.
He was not the only Senator who continued to support a forever occupation. There were others. But even then he was unique as a Democrat in going out of his way to taunt those whose support he demanded.
Trust me on this, burrdeming... It goes back much further than 2006. Lamont had a support group in place on the internet and across Connecticut long before he even knew he was going to run for the Democratic nomination. I am not a member of the Democratic party but I agree with your piece on the many people that purposely shorten the name to "Democrats" as an insult.

Vigilante: Judging by Reid's most recent comments, I am thinking we will need to see a Senate leadership shakeup to get them to hold Lieberman accountable.
I am livid that this has gone on this long and Lieberman has not been ejected. I trust that the caucus decision will be intelligent; however, there is something in my gut that tells me otherwise.
I feel Reid must (Dodd and any others) must be held accountable if Lieberman remains. They must understand the passion that Democratic voters have regarding this issue. They should no miscalculate our disdain for Lieberman; the internet and blog community is very acutely aware and informed of this issue. Reid, Dobb and other will be targeted and infuriatingly voted out as soon as we can. This is a visceral blogger issue.
I certainly agree that Lieberbush didn't do his job as committee chair. He should be fired from that job.
I aggree with the anonymous post above. CT Democrats tried to fire Joe before, and Sen. Dodd needs to know that we're willing to give him the same treatment come time he needs to run. He might have to run under the "Connecticut for Lieberman and Dodd" party.
lol Dan. They will have to start a new party for that since the original CFL party won't endorse Lieberman and they may not endorse Dodd if he keeps traveling down the road to failure.
I lost my home to Countrywide (predatory lending practices anyone?) and I still cut Dodd some slack on his Countrywide problems because I supported what he was doing for the Constitutional showdowns.
I was willing to put the Constituion ahead of my own personal finances BUT...
If he continues to support the Neoconservative extremist, Lieberman, I may start unloading on Dodd.
