Another Republican Pedophile

In Maryland, another typically republican sex scandal:
In Maryland Del. Robert A. McKee, R-Washington, on Friday announced his resignation from the House of Delegates after information surfaced that deputies, acting on information that child pornography was in the residence, searched his Halfway home on Jan. 31.

During the search, investigators seized two computers, about 30 videotapes and a “significant amount” of printed material, including magazines, Washington County Sheriff Douglas Mullendore said Friday afternoon during a press conference.

No charges have been filed.

McKee, in a faxed statement, also said Friday that he had resigned from his position as executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County, an organization he said he served for 29 years.

A quick look at how McKee has kept a close eye over his favored objects of sick and perverted sexual desires over the years:
Member, Washington County Foster Care Review Board, 1989-95; Tri-County Council for Western Maryland, 1995-99; Special Committee to Study Issues Related to Class-Size Reduction, 1998-99; Task Force on the Exemption of Law Enforcement Officers' Pensions from Taxation, 2004-05. Member, Western Maryland Children's Center Advisory Board, 2005-; Incentives for Agriculture Task Force, 2006-07; Commission to Develop the Maryland Model for Funding Higher Education, 2007-.

Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, May 7, 1949. Hagerstown Junior College, A.A., 1969; Lynchburg College, B.A. (political science), 1971. Hospital Corpsman, U.S. Naval Reserve, 1971-77. Frostburg State University, M.B.A., 1991. Executive Director, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Washington County, Maryland, Inc. Delegate, Republican Party National Convention, 1972. Chaplain, Hagerstown Jaycees, 1978-84. Chair, Citizens Advisory Committee, Lincolnshire School, 1980-84. President, Little League of Halfway, Inc., 1980-85, 1992-94. Treasurer, Washington County Mental Health Association, 1980-87. Secretary, Antietam Exchange Club, 1984-. Secretary, Parent and Child Center Advisory Committee, 1985-88. Staff, Maryland District I Little League, 1986-. Chair, Maryland State Association of Big Brothers and Big Sisters Agencies, 1986-. Vice-President, Hagerstown Junior Basketball League, 1987-89. Board of Directors, Hagerstown Junior College Alumni Association, 1992-. Carey Brewer Alumni Award, Lynchburg College, 1986. Book of Golden Deeds, Antietam Exchange Club, 1994. Member, First Christian Church (moderator, 1986-88; trustee, community services chair, 1990-).
Note the "Book of Golden Deeds" mention there... An award given out by the National Exchange Club:
The Exchange Clubs in the United States are collectively committed to one project, the Prevention of Child Abuse, which was adopted in 1978.

snip

The Exchange Club's most prestigious award is the Book of Golden Deeds Award given to a special person that has dedicated their time and efforts to strengthen their community. This award may be given to a member of Exchange or a non-member.
I am thinking that they might want their award back now... The Baltimore Sun had this bit of information that screams GOP hypocrisy:
McKee, who was active in numerous youth athletic and civic groups in his district, was among the General Assembly's leading advocates on children's issues. This year, he co-sponsored a bill that would deny child sexual predators the ability to earn good-conduct credits on their prison sentences. In prior years, he was a co-sponsor of legislation aimed at toughening penalties for sex offenders, or barring them from working in schools.
And OMG!
"A child, who was not a blood relative to McKee, had been living in the home, Mullendore said Friday afternoon. The sheriff was unsure whether the child still was living there."
From the WaPo:
GOP's McKee Resigns After Home Is Searched

For decades, McKee has been involved in youth athletics and children's groups, according to his General Assembly biography. He has served in officer positions in two Little League groups and as secretary of a parent and child center advisory committee.

During the 1970s, McKee was a reservist in the U.S. Navy. He is a former chaplain for the Hagerstown Jaycees and is a trustee and community services chairman at First Christian Church.

"In the long run, I hope and pray that my work in the local community for the last three decades will speak louder than the challenges I now face," McKee said.

Yes... The decades of work in the local community that just happened to keep young victims within your grasp for all of those years. Even the Republican Blogs are starting to catch on to the pattern here, as evidenced by the first comment on this story at Powerline:

Republican politician, does lots of work with kids, sponsors bills to protect kids from sex predators, up to his eyeballs the Christian church.

...OF COURSE he’s a child sex predator.

I kind of just see the R beside their names and become suspicious... But that is just me being logical.

Right Wing Moonbats Desperately Spin NIE

Inability to get a grip on the realities coming at them in liberal doses has never stopped the meak-minded right wing moonbats from trying to continue to spin bush lies:
After insisting that Iran was “only a small step away from producing nuclear weapons,” and after pushing for military strikes against Iran for months, Podhoretz is apparently determined not to let facts get in the way of his prayers for an Iran war.

Podhoretz isn’t the only conservative desperately spinning the NIE to buttress his hawkish positions. Some other examples from conservative blogs:

Strata-Strata: “This smells like another leak by forces in our intel community trying to — once again — influence our national elections.”

Powerline: “But the report offers no reason to be less concerned about the likelihood that Iran will possess nuclear weapons in the near future, and no reason to doubt that our own willingness to take military action is one of the factors that will influence decision-making in Tehran.”

Michelle Malkin: “What’s not making headlines (the certainty that Iran indeed had a nuke program) is as telling as what is making news (the halting of the program in 2003).”

Seth Liebelson at the Corner: If Iran shut its program down in the fall of 2003 MIGHT, MIGHT, MIGHT it have anything to do with it noticing that the US militarily took out its neighbor (another enemy of the U.S.) earlier that year for, among other things, having a concealed WMD program?

Michael Rubin at the Corner: “If Iran was working on a nuclear weapons program until 2003, what does this say about U.S. policy in the late Clinton period and European engagement?”

News Hoggers and SadlyNo have more.
Turn on the bright light of truth and the right wing moonbats - blinded by their rage, hate, incompetence and lies - start flying into the wall of reality.

[update] And as the liars on the right wing fly into that wall:
Bush had two meetings with Olmert — one on Monday, Nov. 26, and one on Wednesday, Nov. 28. But as Hersh makes clear, Bush discussed the NIE with Olmert at the first meeting before the conference, on Nov. 26 — two days before Hadley alleged that Bush first was briefed on the report. This revelation provides evidence that the Bush administration is misleading about when it first learned that Iran had halted its nuclear weapons program.
Oh, oh... Now they'll have to start spinning about how they can't get their lies straight. Childish juice box republicans. You could feel sorry for these idiot GOP talking point Bloggers given what the criminal bush administration gives them to work with on a daily basis... You could, but you won't. They chose to support their own little GOP brand of lunacy.

[update deux] If Sy Hersh knew about this a year ago... Then so did the lying bushies:

bush, Dems, Iraq WMDs and The Vast Right Wing Conspiracists

(H/T Stephen D at The Booman Tribune)

Ok... So now all of the big Blogs and Bloggers on the faaarrr right wing whakosphere edge are saying it is a vast conspiracy by George Bush and the Democratic party to hide the "fact" that all of those WMDs were found in Iraq.

Glen Greenwald gets the scoop here:
Melanie Phillips is a British neoconservative who has devoted herself to warning England that Muslims are taking over and destroying its culture. Her book, oh-so-cleverly titled Londonistan, warns of "the collapse of traditional British identity and accommodation of a particularly virulent form of multiculturalism."

She has described James Baker and Jimmy Carter as "the kept creatures of the Arab world" who "are intent on smoothing the path to Israel's destruction." She thinks global warming is a "con-trick" because everything is "well within the normal cyclical fluctuations in temperature from century to century." And on and on and on. Needless to say, she is a deeply admired figure in the world of Fox News and right-wing blogs.

But all of that is rendered moderate, restrained, sober and even sane by a new article she wrote for the British magazine, The Spectator (headline: I Found Saddam's WMD Bunkers), which claims that: (a) WMDs really were found in Iraq after the invasion, (b) they were located in vast underground bunkers (c) which contained "nuclear, chemical and biological materials", but (d) the U.S., through negligence, failed to secure those sites and, as a result, (e) the WMDs were stolen by The Terrorists and/or Syrian agents, who now have them and are actively plotting (along with China, Russia and North Korea) to use them against the West, but --

(f) because the Bush administration is so embarrassed by their failure to prevent the theft of all these dastardly weapons, and because Democrats are embarrassed by this discovery because it proves that Saddam really did have WMDs all along, they have all jointly created a vast conspiracy where they conceal the discovery of WMDs in order to cover up for their negligence.

You can head over and see what this is all about, but the fact that so many faaarrr right wingnuts are biting on this absurd conspiracy is telling of just how out of the mainstream these dangerously deranged people are. Greenwald also points out the fact that all of the right wingnuts conveniently forget to mention that the Republic party is involved in Melanie Phillips motherload of a conspiracy theory, as well as some other sad facts about the right wingnuts.

Some of the wacky wankers pushing this story of a vast conspiracy theory:

Instapundit (i.e., Glenn Reynolds)
Powerline
Michelle Malkin
Pajamas Media
David Horowitz

I am wondering if these tweedledumbs and dees are expecting another two ton feather in their caps for the pajama wearing types' typical coverage of the ridiculous?

There is no vast conspiracy here, but this sure does expose the vast amount of empty space between the right wingnuts ears.

Media Matters Challenges Power Swine To Tell the Truth

In a quest for truth and honesty in Blogging Media Matters Eric Boehlert puts out a challenge to one of the many disreputable and oft'-times discredited right wing whackosphere Bloggers:

Here's a simple challenge for John Hinderaker, a writer for the popular conservative blog Power Line who recently revisited the 2004 Swift Boat Veterans for Truth campaign controversy. Upset by recent media references that suggested the Swift Boat attacks on Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) had been "discredited," Hinderaker claimed, "Most of what the Vets said in their ads has never been disputed, let alone discredited."

The challenge for Hinderaker is straightforward: Read the assembled facts below and explain how I'm wrong about the countless ways in which the Swift Boat ads were disputed and the accusers were discredited, or apologize for your fact-free claim and post a correction at Power Line.

I realize that highlighting the factual deficiencies of Power Line bloggers is hardly a novel pursuit. After all, Power Line played a starring role in advancing the Terri Schiavo talking points memo hoax during the spring of 2005. Power Line played a starring role in the rush to declare guilty an Associated Press photographer who was accused of working with insurgents in Iraq. Power Line played a starring role in advancing the phony accusation that the AP had invented an Iraqi police captain and used him as a source. And just this month, Power Line played a starring role in advancing the phony story that CNN reporter Michael Ware had heckled Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) during a recent Baghdad press conference.

Meaning, Power Line rarely lets the facts get in the way of its pro-GOP spin.

Don't hold your breath on a credible response from Assrocket. He and his fellow Power Swine propagandists are just a bunch of pigs in spaaaaace....
