An outspoken supporter of the Iraq war on Tuesday called for a new tax to pay for its astronomical cost as Congress opened a debate on President George W. Bush's $2.9 trillion budget plan for next year.
Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut proposed a "war on terrorism tax" at a Senate hearing during which he said the Pentagon's $622 billion defense budget proposal for fiscal 2008 threatened to crowd out funds for domestic programs.
To clarify the matter for you Joe: There already is a massive tax for the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq... It is payed in the blood of Americans and Iraqis.

great.. take away those tax cuts for the rich to pay for it. Or have the idiots that VOTED for Lieberman pay.
I don't mind an increase in taxes if it's for something GOOD and POSTIVE (I'm not CRAZY about the idea, but if it's for education or healthcare.. I'm okay with it)
but not this. Not now, not ever.
only upside.. this will pretty much kill any presidential.vice pres. potential that Lieb may have. Hopefully.
He has, obviously, lost his mind.
You are correct in every point EXCEPT: I don't think he has any presidential potential anymore. He knows he won't get anywhere in the blue-side nomination process. And running on the "unity" ticket would amplify the fact that he is not welcome in either party anymore.
Nobody wants to be associated with the Neocons. They are the "Dead Elephant in the room" that know want wants to claim.
